The daughter of a traditional local craftsman and the son of a dairy farmer; Louise and Andrew Wright (a traditional heritage roofer) have their roots planted firmly in rural Herefordshire. Working with wood, slate, lead and stone is in their blood.
It was solving the problem of opening a hot wood burner without singeing her fingers that first led Louise to designing artisan tools. “I burnt my fingers one too many times opening my hot wood burner. Talking to friends I found I was not alone. I wanted to design something practical and beautiful that we could all use.” A basket full of prototypes later, the first Woodees were born.
Passionate about traditional craftsmanship and locally sourced materials, Louise sought out skilled Herefordshire craftspeople to handcraft each product. She now works in collaboration with a local tanner, joiner, basket maker, blacksmith, agricultural engineer, beekeeper and glass blower to bring her designs to life. The Woodee Range is today made up of artisan tools and accessories for fires and wood burners plus a range of stunning fire pits which can also be used for outdoor cooking.
Louise and Andrew live in the Golden Valley, under the black mountains, in Herefordshire. Their happy home is crammed to the rafters with their four children, Minty the black lab and Peppa the very naughty mini dachshund.
